Leftover Holiday Shop Gifts: Return Them or Keep Them for Next Year?

After the shop closes you have two choices for unsold gifts. Here is how to decide which leftovers to return and which to carry over.

Almost every holiday shop ends with something left on the tables. That is normal, and it is planned for.

Option one: return them

Unsold, undamaged gifts can be returned before January 15 of the following year. Ask for a return authorization first; our returns policy explains how. Return what did not sell at all, and anything you would not choose again.

Option two: carry them over

Gifts that sold steadily are worth keeping. You already know they work at your school, and because closeouts do not restock, you may not find them again. Store them in a dry place, in their packaging, with a list taped to the box.

A simple rule

  • Sold well and is not dated: keep.
  • Barely sold: return.
  • Damaged or opened: cannot be returned, so use as prizes or donate.

Write it down

List what you returned, what you kept, and what sold out early. Next year's chair will order far better with that page than without it.
