Closeouts reward schools that buy in quantity. The risk is a storeroom of leftovers in January. A little arithmetic before you order avoids it.
Start from students, not products
Estimate how many students will shop and how many gifts each will buy. A child who buys for two parents and two grandparents needs four gifts. Multiply students by gifts per student for your total, then order to that number.
Spread the total across the people children buy for
Parents and grandparents take the largest share. Siblings, teachers, aunts, uncles and pets take the rest. Within each group, choose several different gifts so no single closeout line carries the table.
Remember that closeouts do not restock
If you run short of a closeout gift in the middle of shop week, we may not have more. For your best sellers, order a little extra at the start.
Use the return window
Unsold, undamaged gifts can be returned before January 15 with a return authorization. That is your protection against overbuying, so keep leftover stock clean and in its packaging.
